Q: | What is the average density of Nu-Wood? |
A: | The standard density of our Nu-Wood Product is similar to white pine. You can cut, saw, shape, route, nail, screw, and staple Nu-Wood just like wood. But unlike wood, Nu-Wood provides a surface which will not crack, flake, blister, or succumb to insects. |
Q: | Does Nu-Wood expand or contract after installation? |
A: | Long lengths of molding will expand and contract and may shrink over time. Always use a combination of Nu-Wood Adhesive and screws to help avoid some of the movement. |
Q: | Is Nu-Wood moisture resistant? |
A: | Yes |
Q: | Should Nu-Wood moldings be joined with Butt Joints, or 45 degree Scarf Miters? |
A: | Butt Joints |
Q: | If I want to paint Nu-Wood, does the part require any special attention? |
A: | If a color besides white, or any of the classic colors is desired, it may be painted after purchase.
Before painting, lightly scuff the factory finish with a fine grit sand paper or steel wool. Clean all surfaces with mineral spirits. Wipe surface clean with a lint free cloth. For exterior millwork, use only the highest quality exterior grade paint possible. |
Q: | For part # PL896FAPB, what does the APB stand for? |
A: | Adjustable Plinth Block is for custom sized pilasters. |
Q: | Where is Nu-Wood manufactured? |
A: | All Nu-Wood products are made in the USA. |
Q: | Should Nu-Wood Adhesive be used in some, most, or all applications? |
A: | Although Nu-Wood Adhesive can be used with all Nu-Wood millwork, we especially recommend it be used with our molding. |
